Vlaams minister van Omgeving, Natuur en Landbouw Joke Schauvliege woont in een groene wijk ten westen van Zelzate, omringd door een open landbouwlandschap met hier en daar wat kleine landschapselementen. De niet al te grote tuin is smaakvol ingericht met veel groen, wat gazon, en toch ook redelijk wat inheems plantmateriaal.

De val werd ’s avonds opgesteld, om 7 uur de volgende ochtend werd de val gelicht. Omdat het een eerder frisse nacht was vielen de resultaten wat tegen; slechts 60 exemplaren in 28 soorten. Onder warmere condities horen we daar zeker het dubbele gevangen.

Eén zeldzaamheid zat er bij; de vale duinrietboorder, een soort die in Oost-Vlaanderen slechts enkele keren per jaar wordt gespot.
